Aletheia Terms of Service
Last Updated: February 18, 2026
Welcome to Aletheia. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
1. Overview
Aletheia is an AI-powered educational tutoring platform designed for children, managed by their parents or legal guardians ("Parents"). The platform provides personalised learning experiences through conversational AI tutors, quizzes, and progress tracking.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a parent account.
- Child profiles may only be created by a parent or legal guardian who has accepted these Terms.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account, including child sessions.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any purpose other than educational tutoring
- Attempt to circumvent safety filters or content moderation
- Share account credentials with unauthorised individuals
- Use the platform to collect data about other users
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our AI models or systems
- Introduce malicious content, scripts, or automated bots
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws
4. AI Tutoring — Limitations
Aletheia uses artificial intelligence to provide educational support. You acknowledge that:
- AI is not infallible. Responses may occasionally contain errors. Aletheia is a supplemental learning tool, not a replacement for formal education or professional tutoring.
- Content is age-adapted, not guaranteed. We make reasonable efforts to ensure content is appropriate for the child's age range, but parents should monitor usage and report any concerns.
- No professional advice. Aletheia does not provide medical, psychological, legal, or other professional advice.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
- Access to Aletheia is offered through subscription plans as described on our Pricing page.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
- You may cancel at any time through the Parent Dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified via email before any price change takes effect.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact support for refund requests.
6. Intellectual Property
- The Aletheia platform, including its design, code, AI models, and educational content, is owned by Aletheia and protected by intellectual property laws.
- Content generated during tutoring sessions (conversation transcripts, quiz results) belongs to you. You may export or delete it at any time.
- We may use anonymised, aggregated usage data to improve our platform. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user or child.
7. Child Safety
We take child safety seriously. Our platform includes:
- Content filtering and safety guardrails on all AI responses
- Abuse detection with automatic alerts to parents
- Session limits configurable by parents
- No direct messaging between users — children only interact with the AI tutor
- No advertising or external links in the child-facing interface
If you believe a child's safety has been compromised, contact us immediately at safety@aletheiatutor.com.
8. Availability and Modifications
- We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance when possible.
- We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. Material changes that affect your use will be communicated via email.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Aletheia is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.
- Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
10. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Aletheia will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except where prohibited by law. You retain the right to bring claims in small claims court.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email and update the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
